ABOUT LEVEL 1 - IRONMAN U COACH CERTIFICATION

Level 1 Certification focuses on coaching IQ, or Intelligence Quotient. It covers the essentials of triathlon coaching, delivering in-depth knowledge of training principles, exercise physiology, sports nutrition, sport psychology, strength and conditioning, along with swim, bike, and run mechanics and so much more.

Upon course completion (including a final exam), you will be eligible to participate in the Coaching Excellence Program which offers free curriculum related to growing your business and the opportunity to join a professionally facilitated Coach Mastermind Group, a small, peer coaching group which supports one another in sharpening coaching skills, solving problems, pushing thinking, and celebrating successes.

Cycling Mechanics

In this module, cycling expert TJ Tollaksen and IRONMAN U Master Coaches Craig Alexander and Michellie Jones focus on the mechanics of cycling. They discuss some of the physics involved with the bike, such as aerodynamics, gravity and body mass, and propulsion. TJ, Craig, and Michellie also cover the importance of a proper bike fit and how this relates to the biomechanics of an athletes’ pedal stroke. Specific tips on ascending, descending, shifting gears, and riding in groups are also presented.
